Woman’s Co-op is women helping women. In many ways, it’s as simple as that.
It began in 2004, not as a formal organization but as a grassroots group of concerned women meeting around their kitchen tables in a trailer park.
The goal was to support each other and share resources to help sustain, enrich, and nurture their families.
Today it’s mission remains closely tied to this guiding principle.
Perhaps the strongest root to that guiding principle is the organizations network of member families. The organization provides them with the space and opportunity to share their God-given talents (from sewing to auto mechanics) and personal resources (food, vehicle, washer, babysitting, etc.). Networking introduces and facilitates the premise “let’s help each other get by”. Uniting them to discuss their community’s problems surrounding poverty introduces and facilitates collective voice and action.
We help members develop a personal plan to get the necessary education, training and support to secure and maintain employment. Services and programs for members and their families focus on personal development, with emphasis on education. Parenting, family wellness, home management, and self-wellness are core program components.
