“Working together to build a stronger community”

Woman’s Co-op is people helping people.  In many ways, it’s as simple as that.

Woman’s Co-op started in 2004 around kitchen tables in a trailer park in Battle Creek. There was no funding, no formal structure just women showing up for each other, sharing what they had, and figuring things out together. It wasn’t charity. It was survival. And it worked.

Today, Woman’s Co-op is still rooted in that same belief: the people closest to the challenges also hold the solutions. What began as informal support has grown into a powerful network where people build stability, access opportunity, and create real change for themselves and their families. This is not a program you pass through. This is a community you become part of.

At the heart of Woman’s Co-op is our membership network, people who bring their strengths, skills, and lived experiences to support one another. Whether it’s sharing practical resources like transportation or childcare, offering skills like sewing or auto repair, or simply showing up for one another, this network creates stability, connection, and belonging. This is what “people helping people” looks like in action. But support alone isn’t enough.

Woman’s Co-op works alongside each member to build a clear path forward through education, skill-building, and direct connections to employment. Our Hire Vibe initiative bridges the gap between people who are ready to work and employers who need reliable, prepared talent.

At the same time, we know stability doesn’t come from a paycheck alone. That’s why our work also centers on:

  • Strong families and confident parenting
  • Practical life and home management
  • Personal growth, self-worth, and wellness

And we don’t stop at individual success. When people come together and start naming the real barriers they face, something powerful happens they stop navigating broken systems alone and start changing them together. Woman’s Co-op creates space for that collective voice, turning lived experience into advocacy and action. This is how communities get stronger. From the inside out.
